The ongoing Life and Times of Sabrina & Jussi

Florida 2008

We visited my mom at her new home in Nokomis Florida in March - we went because she needed help with her home and she couldn’t afford to hire a carpenter to build her storage shelves…so she got me and Sabrina instead.  We spent three solid days working - we built two massive shelves (each 6′ wide, 7′+ high and 2′ deep - you can see they also have bi-fold doors),  lined the opposite wall with 7 shelves, each 8′ long and nearly floor-to-ceiling (now she has a pantry for kitchen stuff), and put together some cabinets and counter-top.  Check out all the photos by clicking “continue reading”.

Jussi’s 40th Birthday…murder mystery theatre

Well the latest news is that Jussi turned 40!!!  He can’t believe it, can you?  Sabrina planned a party…and colluded with Michelle Reth to pull off a major surprise.  Jussi knew that a party would be thrown for him at the house, but what he didn’t know was that a murder-mystery dinner theatre had been planned.  This became clear when Sabrina insisted that he dress in a tie - very unlike Jussi - in order to attend.  Sabrina comments, “he was grumpy and difficult to persuade - he just had to fight me about wearing a tie!”  Jussi entered the party to discover that several of his friends had come dressed in uncharacteristic fashion, with new names and foreign-sounding accents - one was even in drag!  Can you believe it?Jussi 40th - murder mystery 021.jpg

Jussi says:  “I had a lot of fun - Sabrina really pulled of a masterpiece - she and Michelle did an awesome job at planning this whole thing.   I really didn’t have a clue.  The food was great, the theatrical part was unlike anything I’ve done, and I’ve done a lot of cool dramatic things in my time.  I think the guests all had a lot of fun.  Thank you for coming.”

Building our Bed

Sabrina and I got married in 11/05 - we didn’t co-habitate prior to marriage, so neither of us had a bed larger than a twin.  We married and bought a Cal King, but no bed frame on which to put it - so it went on the floor “temporarily.” Well, flash forward 2+ years till today…I finally built the frame!

Ordination to Elder and Deaconess

Today, March 1st, 2008, Sabrina was ordained to be a deaconness - a church role that she’s been serving in for some time now, but which is being formally recognized.  I was also ordained to the elder position - now this has nothing to do with getting old, so keep the wise cracks to yourself.  I turn 40 in a few weeks here, so leave it till then.    Here are some shots of the service - there are more photos if you click the ”continue reading” link which is located just below these photos - also, if you click “continue reading,” you can see/hear some video footage of an original song that Michael, John, and I wrote with the photos, so check that out too.

Yard Shots February 8, 2008

Well, our yard is a marvel to us still.  I sometimes cannot believe what we did out there.  Anyway, as it continues to grow, we continue to “trip-out” on the desert-scape.  There is a ton of beauty in cactus and succulent installations.  We hope you will enjoy.  To see the rest of the photos, click “continue reading”

Happy New Years!

We just got back from Tucson where we visited my grandfather (my mom’s dad) and his wife Joan.  Sabrina and I loaded up the van with my grandmother June and our dog, met up with my brother and mom, as well as Joan’s two son’s (Tony and his wife Julie & John and his partner James).  We had an absolute blast, ate far too much food, and spent some much-needed time with family.  I miss my grandfather a lot, and being with him for an extended stay (about 10 days) was extremely meaningful to me.   To see the rest of these photos, click “continue reading” below these shots.

It was nearly Christmas time, and the party for our church youth group was at our home.  It started out friendly enough…but before long, an all-out war had broken out!  Don’t believe me, just click on “continue reading” below these shots to see.
